FYI: True happening FBI Blues

Well last week, we had a little excitement around our house.
I want to pass it along to you in the event you have children
around the house.

The other day when my wife got home there was 2 cards in
our front doors from the FBI (we have a long house). Well She
has just worried herself to death for the last couple of days
about going to jail. As it turned out they had come looking
for our daughter. Well it seems they captured some young man and
got him in jail for chatting with teenagers on the internet
and then meeting them all over the US. Our daughter's email
address was in his address book, of course meaning that he had
talked to her at least once. They are wanting to check her
computer and her phone bills for the young mans name, etc.
They said he would be in jail for a long time to come so he
must have done something terribly wrong.

Well any way, just keep close watch on who your child is
contacting on the internet if possible, there are some real
strange folks out there. Fortunately I've always warned my
daughter to beware, so hopefully it was a one time
conversation, she knows to not give out her address and phone.

She is a growing christian, and is currently in Florida
visiting a christian college down there she is thinking about
attending, her school put up the trip for a group of the
honor roll students. Of course she's gonna be surprised when
she gets home and hears about all the excitement!

Final note - don't ever think it can't happen to you! We
always think "awww thats just the other guy". No its not!

More reader comments: NetScape Vs. Internet Explorer

I personally love IE4 and 5 having just swapped from Netscape.
It is a far superior product.  The feature to have it monitor
your bookmarks and email you when they change is great.

Also I am visually impaired and IE5 supports active
accessibility and works properly with speech synthesis whereas
Netscape doesn't work anywhere near as well.

IE's history feature and the new radio buttons in IE5 are
also great.

Also IE works with my favourite html editor, araknophilia  and
allows instant view whereas Netscape doesn't.

If only netscape would support multiple POP accounts, as I
can't use it any more and collect all my mail in one hit as I
can with IE4.  I don't like IE for mail and it certainly feels
much slower as a browser.

I would love to go back to using Netscape - roll on a version
which lets us have multiple mail accounts - I have an ISP for
Net access and some mail going through a different mail server.
I can't be the only person with this problem and it'd be easy
to solve. Let me back on netscape - it's so much better!

Netscape.  Maybe its just  a matter of what you're used to.

IE 4.0 - hated to make the initial switch @ year ago, but the
features won me over and I've never looked back.  (I was a
diehard Netscape user from way back.....)
Don't know enough about 5.0 to make a decision @upgrading. Time
will tell.

So sorry to hear they @ your hospital stay.
Of all the gall..... Sorry, couldn't resist!  ;-)

Tips:

CD woes...

If for some reason your button on your CD won't open the tray,
don't forget you can go to the My Computer Icon and open it,
click on the CD-rom, right click and then click eject.

Win95 fighting apps... gpfs....

You know sometimes when you are working in Win95 that apps
will sometimes fight or grab the same memory blocks. When this
happens there can be program crashes, gpfs, etc. Sometimes
restarting Windows 95 will clear this up. To restart Win95
without rebooting the machine and all of the devices such as
printers, etc., then do the following.
Hold down the left shift key and keep it down,
through the below routine:

Click the <Start> button, selecting <Shut Down>.
Choose <Restart Your Computer> from the dialog box.
Then click <OK>.

Now you can release the SHIFT key, Win95 will proceed to shut
down, but will not reboot the entire computer, instead Win95 
will just restart.
