FYI:

Two weeks ago I received an email that ask would I like
to do some cross promotion. Below is part of the emails, sent
back and forth.

"I have had numerous visitors to my page sign up to receive my
newsletter, but I would like to "cross promote" it to continue
to build readership as quickly as possible.

Thus, I am writing to others whose newsletter subscribers might
be interested in my newsletter (and whose newsletters might be
of interest to my subscribers) to suggest that we tell our
readers about your newsletter and you tell your readers about
ours."

I wrote:

They wrote back:

"Sorry...I've read so many ezine/newsletter list that I can't
remember, but I'll get back to you soon."

That was 2 weeks ago, I don't think I'll hear back from them.
People, I know it sounds like I'm critical all the time, but I'm
really not. But I do believe if we are to deal with others
on the internet and be successful, we have to be very clear in
our communications. Be it business or even on a personal level.
As we discussed in an earlier issue about autoresponders and
answering email personally, I feel this too is just as an
important area we should pay a great deal of attention to, as
much as answering our email personally. Not only be clear in
our communication but know the details of the communication
as well.

Of course this can overlap into our daily communications offline
as well. How many times have we misunderstood someone OR mis-
communicated our message to someone, only to have it come back
to haunt us.

Strive to be clear in your message or communication, even
go so far as to ask "you do understand what I mean, if
not, please don't hesitate to ask questions". Be sure to have
the details of the ad or post you are replying to. In fact the
best policy is to mention the site, ad or newsletter you may
be referring to.

This person and myself missed the opportunity of some free pr,
because of lack of detail and communication. By no means am I
complaining about that, rather I'm trying to stress my feelings
on clear and detailed communication.

Well I'm going to put out a special edition of PROMOTE! on
Saturday with the comments in it, plus some additional listings
to help eliminate some of the current backlog. The response
wasn't as much as I had thought it might be. But the comments
help give me some insight into ways I might improve PROMOTE!

Tips:
 

If an application freezes on you in Windows 95, did you know you
can close the offending program without restarting Windows, in
many cases? If you have a program lock up just press:

ctrl + alt + del (all three keys at the same time)

then let up, a window will appear with a list of tasks that are
running. Just look for the task, (sometimes it will say that
the program is not responding) that is locked up by name. For
example NetScape.

Highlight the program
then click end task.
You will be prompted again about ending the task, click yes
and with any luck the offending window with the locked up
program will close, and let you contine to work. If you need
the program you just stopped again, just start it back up.

I have been using this package for the past 2 weeks on some of
my other lists. Very easy to use and setup. It is free but
includes a brief three line message at the bottom of the email
with the below url. For ease of use for managing groups or email
lists I recommend it. No I'm not an affiliate, in fact I don't
think they have affiliates. For $49.95 you can buy the
registered version and it eliminates the ad that the free version
includes. I am going to buy the registered version
and probably move most of my lists to using it as time allows.
It has many features including filters, personalization of the
email by subscriber, and blind carbon copy.

It does not get email from your email server, it only sends
email. But it does that well.
