FYI: The FYI will be the readers comments this week from my
post last week about letting go of a full time job to go into

Hi Gary...
Very interesting points that you are making. On one hand I envy
you and on the other, better you than me.
But, in all honesty, I look forward to the day when I will have
such issues to be concerned about. There is no doubt in my mind
that anyone in your position would be going through the same
thought patterns. In my mind, it's yourself telling you that it
does not want to go through this change.
I read somewhere once about this phenomena, I don't recall the
psychologist's technical term for it. But there is a natural
regulatory part of your mental self that looks out for you and
tries to protect you. Any time that you make an attempt to do
something that you have not done before or that is very
different,
it kicks in. It is really just trying to protect you. But the
true achievers will recognize it for what it is and do some
further self-examination to determine if they have done all the
necessary prep work to make the change, etc.
Most people cave in at this point and decide to settle for
staying in their comfort zone, doing what they've always done,
while at the same time, expecting different results. Einstein
called this "stupidity."
On the other hand, those in the top 5%, the high acheivers, they
go for it! And I'm sure that you will.
No, I don't beleive that 99% of the folks online don't make
money.
It's just my thoughts. I would agree with the fact that the
majority don't make money.

Hello,
Thanks for the e-mail about letting go, you are the first person
from the internet that I know of that has shared the same
thoughts that I have had for the last 6 months. I left the same
type of job with the long hours and sleep less nights along with
the bonuses, vacation pay and benefits. My move was not by choice
I was laid off after 12 years on the job a job even though
stressful at times I looked forward to going to everyday.
I worked as a Information Systems Manager and I have been laid
off
for over 6 months now. I must say that I still miss the security
that I thought I had along with the bonuses and vacation pay.
I have been doing consulting work after hours and on weekends for
about 5 years now and it has turned into a full time job for me
not by choice but because the bills still have to be paid.
I am still looking to get back into the job market but I think
back on how stressed out I always was and see myself now that I
don't really look forward to it. The long hours, the rush hour
traffic and everything else that goes along with it.
In the first part of your message you mentioned your daughter
and how fast she has grown, I agree with you children do grow
up fast and I missed the most important years of 2 of my
children and the school plays, there baseball and basket ball
games and sometimes there birthdays because I was out of
town.
Now I enjoy all of that, I get up in the morning wake my kids
up for school, get them ready, drive them to school and
sometimes even pick them up. I now have seen what I missed with
the 2 older ones. Watching them play with there friends, helping
them with there homework, and all the things I missed.
